A Learning Family Field trip
From August, 1999 to August 2000, we traveled all around the US studying American history in the places where things happened. Since history is made up of things people do, we focused on the people, past and present, that made America. To celebrate the new millenium, we began to gather profiles of 2000 people that make up the character of our nation, past and present.
Our studies began with the first Americans, then continued with the arrival of the Europeans and establishment of the British colonies, the struggle for Independence and the creation of a new government, slavery and the Civil War, industrial revolution, Westward expansion and Indian expulsion, Oregon Trail, and on to modern America.
