What is Learning Family
all about?
It's pretty simple. We just want to share our excitement
for learning with other families. If we can help even a few other
families turn off the TV or Nintendo and and spend some time learning
together, then we'll feel that we've accomplished something
worthwhile.
What is Learning
Family?
Learning Family is a family owned business created to help
realize the Learning Family Mission, and
promote the Learning Family Values. We
believe that the pursuit of knowledge is the key to individual
freedom and happiness, that families form the foundation of any
society, and that the family is the best place to foster a love of
learning. Learning Family is organized into four groups:
Who is behind Learning
Family?
The Reisers
created Learning Family in 1998, as a natural outgrowth of their
activities learning at home. They had been sharing their learning
adventures and ideas with friends and family, as well as with
strangers met on the road, and received such interest and
encouragement that they decided to this would be the best way to
share the message with others. Read more about the History
of the Learning Family.
What is a Learning
Family like?
A Learning Family thinks it's OK to be smart, it's OK to be
compassionate, and want to help make the world a better place for
everybody. Learning Families are NOT like the Simpsons, or Rosanne,
sitting around watching TV and complaining about everything. In fact,
while they may watch fun or educational TV programs, life doesn't
revolve around the tube at all. Learning Families spend time reading,
playing games or doing crafty projects together, volunteering, or
going on field-trips. Read the Learning Family
Values to learn more about what a Learning Family is like.
Who can be a Learning
Family?
Almost any family can be a Learning Family, if you enjoy
learning together. Find out about how to join at the Learning
Family Network.
Is Learning Family a
homeschool organization?
Learning happens all the time, not just in school, and it is fun and
rewarding when it is done the right way. Learning Family seeks to
bring its mission to as many families as possible, whether the
children attend public schools, private schools, or are taught at
home. In 1999, we will introduce the Learning Family Academy, a
program of activities to help families enjoy the rewards of learning
together.
Is Learning Family a
religious organization?
We've found so many good people with good principles in so many
places that we wanted Learning Family to be an open, tolerant
community, whatever their religious background may be. To maintain
our open policy, we don't accept sponsorships from any religious
groups or government agencies.
What about that colorful
head?
Actually, Rob & the kids designed the logo to at first to
create an identity for our independent schooling. Later, the project
evolved into the Learning Family. It's a catchy image with a lot of
meaning. Click here to learn about our logo.
